Punjab National Bank has released a nationwide notification inviting online applications for engagement of Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 for the Financial Year 2025-26. This recruitment is purely for apprenticeship training and does not constitute permanent employment with the Bank. Candidates selected under this program will undergo structured training for one year in designated PNB branches across India.

 

A total of 5138 apprenticeship seats are proposed across multiple States and Union Territories, distributed circle-wise and category-wise in accordance with Government of India reservation norms. The Bank reserves the right to modify the number of seats depending upon administrative and operational requirements.

 

 

 

 

📌 Nature of Engagement

 

 

The engagement is strictly for Apprenticeship Training and not for a regular employee post. Apprentices:

 

  • Will not be treated as bank employees.
  • Will not receive employee benefits such as PF, ESI, gratuity, bonus, pension, LTC, medical reimbursement, or housing.
  • Will receive only the fixed monthly stipend prescribed.
  • Will have no automatic right to future absorption or permanent appointment in Punjab National Bank after completion of training.

 

 

 

 

 

🕒 Duration of Training

 

 

The total apprenticeship period shall be 12 months, comprising:

 

  • 2 weeks of Basic Classroom Training, and
  • 50 weeks of On-the-Job Training at allotted PNB branches.

 

 

Training location and circle allocation shall be decided by the Bank depending on vacancies and administrative needs.

 

 

 

 

💰 Monthly Stipend Structure

 

 

During the one-year apprenticeship contract, candidates will be paid a consolidated stipend as follows:

 

  • Rural / Semi-Urban / Urban Branches: ₹12,300 per month
  • Metro Branches: ₹15,000 per month

 

 

Important notes regarding stipend:

 

  • No additional allowances will be payable.
  • Payment will be made monthly after adjusting any unauthorized absence.
  • The stipend is not negotiable.
  • No travel, accommodation, hostel, or relocation expenses will be reimbursed.

🇮🇳 Nationality Requirements

 

 

Applicants must fall under any one of the following categories:

 

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with intent to permanently settle
  • Person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries with Government certificate

 

 

Candidates other than Indian citizens must possess a valid Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India.

📚 Educational Qualification

 

 

Applicants must:

 

  • Hold a Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized University/Institute.
  • Have declared results on or before 31 December 2025.
  • Produce mark sheets and degree/provisional certificate when required.

 

 

Additional requirements:

 

  • Candidates registered under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) must have passed graduation within the last four years from the cut-off date.
  • Applicants must be proficient in the local language of the State/UT they apply for (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding).

 

 

 

 

 

♿ Reservation & PwBD Provisions

 

 

Reservation is applicable for:

 

  • SC / ST / OBC / EWS categories
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)

  • Orthopedically Challenged (OH)

📝 Selection Process – Step by Step

 

 

Selection for apprenticeship engagement shall consist of four stages:

Final engagement is subject to clearing all four stages successfully.

The test will be objective-type (MCQs) and conducted online.

  • General English – 25 questions
  • Quantitative & Reasoning Aptitude – 25 questions
  • Computer Knowledge – 25 questions

  • Medium: English / Hindi

 

 

Candidates must score minimum aggregate marks as decided by the Bank. A 5% relaxation is available for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates.

 

In case of tie, the older candidate will be ranked higher.

Candidates shortlisted after the exam must appear at designated centers at their own cost and produce:
